Is your favorite plant ready for its closeup? Did you know that any amateur gardener can enter the Horticulture Show at the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair on November 3-13? Master Gardener Nancy Traver will give advice on how to prepare your plant for its days in the spotlight during this program. See examples of plants that have won awards in the past. If you've got a plant you want to show off, now is your chance! Come to this program and learn what you need to know to enter. Make sure you bring plenty of questions so you'll be ready to enter your plant on November 1!

Nancy Traver has been a Master Gardener since 2014. She first became interested in becoming a Master Gardener through her work with the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair, where she was a member for more than 20 years. She was fascinated by all of the displays and exhibits presented by the UF|IFAS Extension office. She met so many people through that event and wanted to learn more. Nancy grew up in dairy country in upstate New York. Her father sold farm equipment. Back then, she could , and did, grow just about everything, but she found little success with even a simple vegetable garden here in Florida. Being a Master Gardener has helped her transition from a northern climate gardener to a southern climate gardener. She still misses some of the spring flowers that find it too hot to thrive in Florida, but she enjoys being able to garden year-round in Jacksonville.

This program will be offered in-person at the Garden Club and simultaneously on Zoom. Masks are optional for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 but are recommended to help protect everyone. Those who are unvaccinated should wear masks; the Garden Club appreciates your cooperation.

The program is free and open to the public.
