Join the Garden Club of Jacksonville for a fascinating exploration of the beauty, science, and creativity behind Crinum lily breeding. Led by horticulturist Rhonda Gracie, this engaging program will introduce participants to the remarkable world of Crinum lilies and the art of developing new plant varieties.
Learn about the world’s largest collection of Crinum lilies at the UNF Jacksonville Botanical Garden, discover the diversity and ecological importance of these stunning plants, and gain insight into the process of hybridization and plant breeding.
The program includes a hands-on workshop where participants will:
- Learn controlled pollination techniques
- Identify flower reproductive structures
- Collect and transfer pollen
- Select parent plants with desirable traits
- Create and label their own potential Crinum lily hybrid
